General FAQs

We are a residential design-build remodeling company that specializes in home remodels. We do not work on apartments or manufactured homes, perform commercial remodeling, or provide handyman work (unless it’s for a past client as part of their aftercare benefit).

Design-Build FAQs

We perform projects ranging from whole home renovations to powder bathroom remodels. More than project size, we are looking for project fit. Can we leverage our core competencies? Do our vision and values align? Does it seem like we’d enjoy working together? These questions matter more to us than size.

The timeline for a remodel depends on the size and complexity of the project, as well as other factors such as decision-making speed, product availability, and weather. Thayer has enough experience to provide a realistic estimate for the duration of the project. If we have a conversation about your specific project we will be able to provide some idea of the timeline.

Your job’s size and complexity determine its cost, along with your choices in finishes and selections. We’ll discuss your budget and a realistic ballpark estimate range of your job’s expected price before we begin design. Once in design, we gather pricing from our subcontractors and our team, and check in with you at each meeting as the designs develop. Once your selections are completed and the final drawings are approved, you will have the final costs on your project, barring any changes or unforeseen obstacles.

We handle all necessary permits and inspections as part of our full-service design-build process.

We take measures to protect our clients, their homes, and their property, including covering floors and plastic walls, installing HEPA filters, daily cleanup, and professional cleaning at the end of the project.

We have both in-house talent and a team of trusted specialty trade partners we work with, depending on the project type. Most of our trades we have worked with for many years, so we know and trust their work.

Our system is built around remodeling in an occupied home. But unless we’re doing a whole house remodel, you can typically remain in your home. We’ll help you get set up and give you tips on how to navigate around the construction during the project with minimal disruption and noise.
