1% for Our Community

Our community has supported us. We are committed to supporting it.

Starting in 2027, Thayer Design Build will invest at least 1% of annual revenue back into our community. The more we grow, the more we give.

Why? Because we believe that good business and doing good belong together, and that every organization should give where they live. Benton County is where we do business, but it’s also where our families are established, where relationships grow deep, and where people have invested in us for more than a decade. Now, we have the ability to invest back into it; and that’s exactly what we intend to do.

For years, Thayer Design Build has supported local organizations. Now, we are committed to doing so much more.

Good Business and Doing Good Belong Together

We believe a good business is responsible for putting its resources to use in the place it calls home. Sometimes that means writing a check. Other times it means offering space, materials, labor, expertise, or a useful connection. What matters is showing up and investing in the growth of our community.

The more a business grows, the more it should give. That’s the motto we’re sticking to.

We Give Where We Live

The growth of local businesses is direct result of people trusting them, recommending them, working for them, partnering with them, and welcoming them in. Corvallis and Benton County have done that for Thayer Design Build for more than a decade, and we want to honor our community by investing where we live.

Proud to Support Our Community

We are proud to stand alongside organizations, events, and programs working to make Corvallis and the surrounding community a stronger place to live. We are especially drawn to work that supports children, families, education, entrepreneurship, and the people creating opportunity for others.

Recognizing Those Who Show Up for Others

The Thayer Design Build Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award

Thayer Design Build and Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers established this annual award to recognize a VIC volunteer whose service has made an exceptional difference to the organization and the people it serves.

Presented at the VIC Annual Fundraiser, the award honors the quality and impact of a volunteer’s contribution, not simply the number of hours served. Recipients are recognized for generosity, reliability, compassion, initiative, and a sustained commitment to helping others.

The partnership is personal to our family. Jared’s grandfather, Bill Thayer, has volunteered with Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers for years.

Everyone Has Something to Give

Every local business, family, and individual has something it can give: money, time, space, skills, relationships, or a willingness to help when the right opportunity appears.

We hope 1% for Our Community encourages other business owners to ask a simple question: What could our growth make possible in our community?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is 1% for Our Community?

It is Thayer Design Build’s pledge to invest more than 1% of annual revenue back into our community through local giving, sponsorships, partnerships, donated resources, and other community investments.

Why is the pledge based on revenue?

Basing the pledge on revenue makes the commitment clear and consistent. It is not a discretionary amount chosen after the year is over. It creates a direct relationship between Thayer’s growth and the amount invested back into the community.

What counts toward the pledge?

Contributions may include direct giving, sponsorships, donated labor or materials, use of facilities and resources, and other support with a reasonable and defensible dollar value.

How does Thayer choose what to support?

We look first at local opportunities, especially in Corvallis and Benton County. We consider the positive impact, alignment with our priorities, responsible use of resources, and whether the partnership is one we are proud to stand behind. We are especially drawn to organizations supporting children, families, education, and entrepreneurship, while remaining open to other meaningful local needs.

How Can We Help?

Tell us what you are working on and where Thayer Design Build might be useful. Sometimes the right contribution is funding. Sometimes it is materials, labor, a partnership, or a connection. We want to see if we can help or connect you with the right people who can.
